“Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.
Winter despises her stepmother and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.
Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?”
I picked this book up from the library since it had been on my TBR for over a year. It took me fourteen days to read ( I know, quite slow. For me, at least) because I was also reading a some e – books that were sent to me by authors and publishers. Although it took me so long to read, I loved this book and it is the best thing I have read this year!
The main characters in this book are Winter and Jacin. This book was very well written, but I feel like it could’ve been split into two separate books because SO MANY things happened. It was told in the third person which is really refreshing to see in YA. Each book in this series a fairy tale retelling and this one is made to follow the story of Snow White. The scenes were very beautifully written and all the characters had very neat and nice conclusions that fitted their personalities perfectly.
The reason this book five stars is mostly because all the couples were SO CUTE! There were moments with Jacin and Winter & Cress and Thorne where I was squealing out loud and fangirling so much! Ah! It was so cute! I loved it so much.
Winter was a very interesting, quirky character. She is super cute and persistent and wonderful. And I just love her so much! She is my second favourite character in the series, the first being Cress. She is modelled after the character Snow White which was done quite well.
Jacin is the other main character who is loosely based on the huntsman from Snow White. He is super like “Must protect Winter at all costs.” and he was a very good character that I enjoyed a lot. We have seen him in a previous book, although I forgot that we had seen him before because I read the last book in January 2014 so I only remembered a small section of the plot.
The characters get ★★★★★ stars!
The plot was absolutely amazing! I have no idea how she can follow that many characters without the plot getting all muddled. She is absolutely a genius and her editor must be as well! It had so many twists and turns, but still seemed to follow the over – arching plot of Snow White. My favourite scene was probably in the last third of the book and it had the characters Cress and Thorne in it. I was literally making high – pitched noises of excitement throughout the whole scene and I had to put the book down at one point so that I could freak out over how good the book/scene was. ★★★★★ stars! Would recommend for every single human on earth!
